Company Accountant

Fully On-Site Salary: Up to £40,000 + Benefits

Robert Half is delighted to be partnering with a well-established manufacturing business in Neath to recruit a Company Accountant. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant to take ownership of the finance function for a £5m division within a successful and growing organisation.

This role would suit an individual who enjoys a broad finance position, combining financial reporting, cost accounting, transactional finance oversight, and business partnering within a manufacturing environment.

The Role

As Company Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, producing timely management information, and ensuring compliance across the division's financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Control & Reporting

  • Manage the month-end close process and prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting.
  • Maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts, and month-end journals including accruals, prepayments, and depreciation.
  • Support the production of reporting packs and KPI reporting for senior management.

Manufacturing & Cost Accounting

  • Maintain standard costing and job costing processes across products and production runs.
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory valuations, including raw materials and work-in-progress.
  • Analyse cost of sales and overhead variances.
  • Support commercial decision-making through accurate product costing information.

Transactional Finance

  • Oversee purchase ledger, sales ledger, and credit control activities.
  • Process payroll payments or manage the outsourced payroll provider, including PAYE and pension payments.
  • Manage daily banking activities, payment runs, and cash flow monitoring.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and intercompany balances.

Compliance & Statutory Reporting

  • Prepare and submit VAT returns.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and capital expenditure records.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC and Companies House filing requirements.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support senior management with financial analysis and ad hoc information requests.
  • Provide occasional cover for time and attendance administration.

About You

Essential

  • AAT qualified or qualified by experience with a strong accounting background.
  • Previous experience working in a standalone finance role or a small finance team.
  • Strong understanding of UK accounting standards, VAT, and payroll compliance.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience using accounting systems.
  • High levels of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively with remote teams and wider business functions.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary up to £40,000
  • 3% Pension
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Fully on-site role based in Neath
  • Working hours:
    • Monday to Thursday: 8:00am to 4:30pm
    • Friday: 8:00am to 3:30pm
