Robert Half is partnering with a well-established Macclesfield based manufacturing company in the appointment of a qualified Finance Manager to join its growing business within a wider group structure. The successful candidate will take responsibility for all core finance functions from accounting and reporting through to budgeting, forecasting, and commercial financial support, ensuring financial stability, compliance, and providing insightful analysis that helps guide strategic and operational decision-making across the group.
Reporting into the Managing Director with a line into the Group Financial Controller, duties are as follows:
- Lead the full finance function, including day-to-day accounting, management of ledgers, bank reconciliations, creditor/debtor control, and cash-flow management.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts, balance sheets, profit & loss statements, cashflow reports, and other financial statements.
- Develop, maintain and monitor budgets and forecasts (short-term and long-term), including variance analysis and scenario modelling to support business planning and growth strategies.
- Provide financial insight and analysis to senior management and group leadership to support commercial decisions, investments, cost control and profitability optimisation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, statutory reporting requirements, tax, VAT and other obligations.
- Manage and lead a team of 3 finance staff; act as a key point of contact within the group for finance interactions and consolidate group-level financial information where required.
- Drive improvement and standardisation of finance processes and systems (e.g. accounting software, process automation, internal control frameworks) to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and scalability as the business grows.
Candidate Requirements
- Fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent recognised qualification/experience.
- Post-qualification experience in a Finance Manager (or senior finance) role, ideally within an SME or group-structured business.
- Strong technical accounting skills, including experience with UK accounting standards, month-end and year-end close, financial statement preparation, and financial reporting.
- Proven ability in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and analysis; comfortable preparing and presenting financial information to senior stakeholders and supporting strategic decision-making.
- Excellent commercial awareness: ability to understand and interpret business performance, profitability drivers, costs, margins and financial risks.
- Strong Excel skills, SAP advantageous.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities; capable of managing and liaising with multiple stakeholders across departments and the wider group.
