This VAT Accountant role sits within a Group Financial Accounting function responsible for external reporting across multiple EMEA entities. You'll take ownership of VAT submissions, compliance, and reconciliations across several jurisdictions, while also contributing to wider finance improvement initiatives. Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit VAT returns across multiple EMEA jurisdictions
  • Track and follow up on VAT refunds and initiate VAT payments
  • Reconcile VAT general ledger accounts and review VAT revenue reconciliations
  • Support responses to VAT authority queries alongside the VAT team
  • Provide VAT guidance to internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and compliant transactions
  • Monitor changes in VAT regulations and assess potential impacts
  • Liaise with external advisors and service providers
  • Collaborate with finance, accounting and operational teams to support accurate VAT reporting
  • Review VAT returns prepared by other team members
  • Assist in process improvements and implementation of new procedures
  • Support internal and external audits (ad-hoc, quarterly and annual)

Requirements:

  • QBE or part qualified Accountant
  • Experience in a similar VAT Accountant focussed role is essential
  • Strong VAT experience across multiple jurisdictions
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities
  • Strong customer focus and stakeholder engagement skills
