We are currently partnering with a growing and well-established business in Edinburgh that’s looking to appoint a Customer Accountant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in accounting or bookkeeping who enjoys working closely with people and is looking to step into a more client-facing, varied role.
The Role
You’ll be joining a collaborative and supportive team, using your finance knowledge to deliver a high level of service to customers while helping them navigate accounting processes and systems. This role offers a strong mix of finance, problem-solving and customer interaction, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working beyond purely transactional tasks.
Key responsibilities:
- Acting as the first point of contact for customer queries via phone, email and live chat
- Supporting users with queries relating to accounting processes, transactions and system usage
- Delivering training and guidance to both new and existing customers
- Proactively reaching out to customers to provide support and improve overall experience
- Troubleshooting issues and providing clear, practical solutions
- Assisting internal teams with testing new features and system updates
- Building strong relationships with customers and acting as a trusted point of contact
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll be someone who combines strong finance knowledge with excellent communication skills.
Key requirements:
- 2–3+ years’ experience in an accounting, bookkeeping or transactional finance role
- Exposure to areas such as VAT, payroll processes and general ledger activity
- A solid understanding of core accounting principles and financial processes
- Strong IT skills, with experience using accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero or similar)
- Confident communicator, able to explain financial concepts clearly to non-finance individuals
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong attention to detail
