Robert Half is partnering with an organisation based in Colchester that provides residential care for older people in search of an Employee Relations Specialist.
Reporting to: ER & Policy Manager
The role: We’re looking for an experienced and commercially minded Employee Relations Specialist to join our team, supporting leaders and managers across the business with expert ER advice, case management, and coaching. This is a fast-paced, high-impact role where you’ll manage complex ER cases, influence decision-making, and help shape policies and processes that support our people and drive the business forward.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing expert ER advice to managers across a range of issues including disciplinaries, grievances, absence, performance, redundancy, TUPE, and whistleblowing.
- Managing a high volume of complex ER casework within a regulated environment.
- Coaching and guiding managers to balance commercial outcomes with employment law and best practice.
- Supporting cases through to resolution, including ACAS early conciliation and employment tribunal preparation.
- Reviewing and advising on investigation reports, outcome letters, and documentation.
- Identifying trends in ER activity and proactively improving policies, procedures, and ways of working.
- Supporting the development and delivery of ER training (virtual and in-person).
- Collaborating with legal teams and key stakeholders on high-risk or complex cases.
- Maintaining accurate case records and producing reports on trends and business risk.
About you:
- Proven experience managing complex ER casework in a fast-paced environment.
- Minimum 2 years ER Casework experience.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Confident advising and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Commercially aware with sound judgement and a pragmatic approach.
- Experience in a regulated or operational environment is highly desirable.
- CIPD qualified (or working towards) is a plus.
