The Opportunity
This is a newly created Learning & Development Manager role within a fast-growing B2B energy business that’s scaling quickly in both size and ambition. The HR function is well established and highly valued, and Learning & Development is the next major investment area.
Rather than stepping into an existing framework, this role offers a genuine greenfield opportunity to design, build and deliver an L&D strategy from the ground up. There is strong senior leadership buy-in, a clear appetite to expand training across the business, and real momentum behind creating a culture of continuous learning.
This is a highly visible, hands-on role for someone who enjoys both strategic thinking and rolling up their sleeves to deliver engaging, high-impact learning themselves.
Responsibilities:
- Partnering with senior leaders and Heads of Department to understand capability needs
- Identifying organisational, team and individual skill gaps
- Designing and personally delivering engaging soft-skills and management development programmes
- Coordinating technical and role-specific training in partnership with internal subject-matter experts
- Creating opportunities for cross-skilling and knowledge-sharing across teams
- Building and embedding succession planning frameworks
- Developing clear learning pathways for early-career and graduate populations
- Supporting and upskilling internal trainers and facilitators
- Setting, tracking and reporting on company-wide L&D objectives and outcomes
- Measuring the effectiveness of learning interventions and continuously refining approach
- Championing modern, blended and creative learning methodologies
- Working closely with HR colleagues to ensure L&D aligns with the wider people and talent strategy
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being both the architect and the facilitator - not just designing programmes, but delivering them and seeing the impact first-hand.
Challenges you will tackle:
- Building an L&D offering from the ground up
- Moving from ad-hoc training to a structured, scalable learning strategy
- Engaging a young, fast-paced audience and avoiding “tick-box” training
- Balancing creativity with commercial relevance
- Embedding a genuine culture of continuous learning
About You:
Essential experience:
- Proven background in Learning & Development within a fast-paced or less structured environment
- Hands-on experience designing and delivering training yourself
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and energise diverse audiences
- Entrepreneurial, creative mindset with confidence to start from a blank page
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence at all levels
- Comfortable working autonomously and taking full ownership
Nice to have:
- Experience working closely with HR and talent teams
- Exposure to succession planning and talent frameworks
- Experience building L&D functions or programmes from scratch
Why This Role Stands Out:
- A rare opportunity to shape the entire L&D agenda in a growing business
- High visibility role with strong senior leadership support
- Immediate opportunity to make a tangible, lasting impact
- Long-term scope to evolve the role as the business continues to scale
