Robert Half Technology are assisting a global market leading e-commerce organisation to recruit a Backend Engineer on a 6 months contract basis. Hybrid working - London based.
As a Backend Engineer, you will build and scale services that enable internationalisation and support integration of new platform capabilities into the Live ecosystem.
RoleThe Backend Engineer will be responsible for:
- Building services for multi-language configuration and regional behaviour
- Supporting currency handling, pricing logic, and transaction flows
- Integrating new systems into the Live platform
- Contributing to a shared transaction layer used across multiple products
- Collaborating with frontend and mobile engineers to deliver consistent experiences
- Design and build backend services end-to-end
- Contribute to platform and API design decisions
- Improve system performance and reliability
- Work within an evolving architecture with real production constraints
The Backend Engineer will have:
- Strong API and service development skills
- Experience working on transaction systems, payments, or eCommerce platforms
- Experience with GraphQL preferred
- Exposure to Elixir, Go, or similar backend technologies
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-changing environments
