Wakefield Full-Time On-site

We're partnering a fast-growing, Lancashire-based, private equity-backed technology business is looking to appoint an experienced Group Financial Controller to join its senior finance team. The business operates internationally across the UK and Europe and is going through an exciting period of growth, driven by organic expansion, technology investment and acquisition. This is a senior, hands-on Group FC role, reporting directly to the Group CFO and offering genuine scope to influence how the finance function develops as the business continues to scale.
The role
You will take ownership of the Group's financial reporting, consolidation, controls and accounting operations across 12 legal entities in the UK and Europe. Alongside ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Group's financial reporting, you will work closely with the CFO, senior leadership team, private equity investors, auditors, tax advisers and banking partners. The role will suit someone who enjoys operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and who can bring structure, rigour and commercial thinking without creating unnecessary bureaucracy. Key responsibilities will include: Leading the monthly Group consolidation and financial reporting process across 12 entities
Preparing consolidated financial statements in accordance with FRS 102
Overseeing the year-end statutory accounts process and managing external audit relationships
Ensuring balance sheet integrity, including key reconciliations and intercompany accounting
Leading the month-end close process and ensuring appropriate Group adjustments and eliminations
Managing Group tax compliance, working with external advisers and local finance teams across multiple jurisdictions
Preparing quarterly covenant and investor reporting
Managing Group cash flow and treasury, including the weekly 13-week cash flow forecast
Supporting banking requirements and facility utilisation
Providing technical accounting advice across the Group, including accounting for hedging and financial derivatives
Supporting acquisitions, due diligence and post-acquisition integration
Working with the CFO and PE investors on Group reporting and wider finance matters
Strengthening financial controls, governance and processes as the business scales
Identifying opportunities to improve automation, systems and reporting
Working with finance teams across the Group to improve consistency and financial discipline
Supporting wider finance projects and system implementations
What we're looking for
We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) with a practice background and strong technical accounting and Group reporting experience. You will have: Post-qualified experience within a PE backed Group finance environment
Strong consolidation and statutory reporting experience
Experience working across multiple entities and/or international operations
A strong technical accounting grounding
Experience dealing with auditors, advisers, banks and senior stakeholders
Exposure to private equity, high-growth or acquisitive businesses would be highly advantageous
Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with stakeholders at all levels
Most importantly, you will be hands-on, pragmatic and commercially minded. This is not a role for someone who wants to operate purely at a reporting distance - you'll be close to the detail, but also expected to understand the wider business and contribute to its growth.
Why join?
This is an opportunity to join a growing international technology business at an important stage of its journey. You will work closely with an experienced CFO and private equity stakeholders, with the opportunity to help shape the Group's financial infrastructure as it continues to grow through international expansion and acquisition. For someone looking for a genuine Group FC position with breadth, visibility and the opportunity to make an impact, this is an excellent time to join. Hybrid working is offered.
