An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Assistant to join a well-established and growing organisation. This role is ideal for someone with previous finance experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to develop their career within a supportive finance team. Reporting into the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the finance function, supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, month-end processes, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Accounts Receivable & Credit Control
- Manage credit control activities and follow up on overdue payments
- Allocate customer receipts and resolve payment discrepancies
- Prepare and issue customer statements
- Accounts Payable
- Process supplier invoices accurately and efficiently
- Reconcile supplier statements and investigate queries
- Prepare and process supplier payment runs
- Maintain supplier accounts and payment records
- Banking & Reconciliations
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and investigate variances
- Complete balance sheet and control account reconciliations
- Maintain accurate cash and financial records
- Month-End & Reporting
- Support month-end close activities
- Prepare and post journals, including prepayments and payroll journals
- Assist with management accounts preparation and reporting
- Support financial analysis and reporting requirements
- Tax & Compliance
- Prepare VAT returns and related submissions
- Support HMRC-related processes and payments
- Ensure financial records remain compliant and up to date
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience within a finance or accounts position
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations
- Experience preparing VAT returns and dealing with HMRC processes
- Good Excel skills and experience using finance/accounting systems
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A proactive and self-motivated approach to work
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics Business Central
- Studying towards, interested in pursuing, or already qualified in a finance-related qualification such as AAT, ACCA, or CIMA
