Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Salary: £25,000-£28,000 (upon permanent appointment)

Temporary Rate: £14.00 per hour + holiday pay

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Finance Assistant to join a friendly finance team in Wokingham. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the start of their career, such as a recent graduate, college leaver, or someone looking to gain their first experience in finance. No previous payroll experience is required. Full training will be provided. The key is a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong attention to detail.

This role begins on a temporary basis with the intention of becoming permanent following a successful probation period.

The Role

  • You will be working within a payroll and finance team of four, supporting a specialist area of payroll relating to CIS (Construction Industry Scheme), as well as assisting with Accounts Payable and general finance administration.
  • This is a varied, hands-on role where you will gain exposure to payroll processing, purchase ledger, and general finance support tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting CIS payroll processing within the payroll team
  • Assisting with Accounts Payable transactions and invoice processing
  • Reconciling supplier accounts and ledger balances
  • Supporting data entry, scanning, and document organisation
  • Assisting with payment runs and routine finance checks
  • Helping maintain accurate financial records
  • Assisting with travel and hotel bookings when required
  • Supporting the payroll and finance team with general administrative tasks
  • Getting involved in ad hoc duties as required

About You

  • Looking for your first role in finance or payroll
  • Keen to learn and develop new skills
  • Strong attention to detail and good numerical ability
  • Organised and reliable
  • Comfortable working in a structured, process-driven environment
  • Good communication skills and a team player
  • Basic Excel and Microsoft Office skills advantageous
  • Happy with 5 days in the office. No prior finance experience is required as full training will be provided.
