Robert Half is working with a leading media and advertising group in Central London to recruit a permanent Revenue Accountant into their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant with extensive revenue recognition experience to take ownership of key revenue accounting processes within a complex, fast-paced business. Candidates from a media background are welcomed, however applications are encouraged from any industry provided there is strong, hands-on revenue recognition experience.

About the Position

Reporting into the Financial Controller, you will play a critical role in the accurate recognition, reporting, and analysis of revenue across the business. This is a hands-on, P&L-focused accounts role, working closely with client leads and commercial finance teams. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the monthly revenue recognition process, ensuring all revenue is accurately recorded and appropriately supported.
  • Calculating commissions revenue in line with contractual terms.
  • Preparing and maintaining monthly net sales files and client revenue control files, including detailed backing schedules for management and group reporting.
  • Preparing and posting accurate monthly revenue journals within SAP.
  • Ownership of monthly and quarterly SOX controls, including project revenue retainers, commissions incentives.
  • Performing monthly variance analysis on revenue accounts with clear and insightful commentary against forecast.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for internal and external audit queries relating to revenue.
  • Supporting month-end and quarter-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate revenue reporting.
  • Working closely with commercial finance teams to investigate and resolve revenue-related queries.
  • Contributing to process improvements and ad hoc finance projects as required.

What we’re looking for

  • Qualified accountant, qualified by experience or part qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
  • Extensive experience in revenue recognition within a management accounting or revenue accounting environment.
  • Exposure to SOX controls and internal control frameworks is desirable but not essential.
  • Background in any industry, with experience in a complex, revenue-driven environment; experience in media, advertising, or agency settings is advantageous.
  • Solid understanding of IFRS, particularly revenue recognition standards.
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas).
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and reconciliation skills.
  • Confident communicator able to build relationships with non-finance stakeholders.
  • Proactive, organised, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines.
