About the Role As Payroll Officer, you'll take responsibility for the end-to-end monthly payroll process , ensuring payroll is accurate, timely and fully compliant with current legislation and company procedures. Your responsibilities will include: Processing monthly payroll from start to finish. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee payroll records. Processing starters, leavers, salary changes and contractual amendments. Calculating PAYE, National Insurance, pension contributions and other deductions. Processing statutory payments, including SSP and SMP where applicable. Responding to payroll queries and resolving issues promptly and professionally. Completing payroll reconciliations and investigating and resolving discrepancies. Preparing payroll reports and supporting statutory submissions. Liaising with HMRC, pension providers and other relevant third parties. Supporting payroll year-end activities, including the production of P60s. Keeping up to date with changes to payroll legislation and ensuring ongoing compliance. Handling sensitive employee information with the highest level of confidentiality. About You We're looking for a reliable, organised and detail-focused payroll professional who is comfortable working to deadlines and taking ownership of their workload. You'll ideally have: Previous experience working in a payroll role, with end-to-end payroll experience highly desirable. A strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance and workplace pensions. Excellent attention to detail and a consistently high level of accuracy. Strong organisational and time-management skills. The ability to prioritise effectively and manage competing deadlines. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Experience using payroll software and Microsoft Excel. A professional, discreet and confidential approach to sensitive employee information.
