Robert Half are delighted to be partnering with a small, ambitious and friendly business based in Oxford. They are looking for an Accounts Assistant to take ownership of an important part of the financial operation. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with finance experience who enjoys variety, likes working with people as well as numbers, and wants to play a genuinely meaningful role within a growing, close-knit business.
The Role
Reporting into the finance team, you will play a key role in ensuring customer accounts are accurately maintained and payments are received and allocated promptly. You'll be working with customers from around the world across multiple currencies, and the role goes well beyond routine accounts receivable. You'll also liaise with sales and marketing colleagues, resolve customer queries, produce reports, and get involved in wider business projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Allocating customer payments accurately against invoices and reconciling bank accounts
- Preparing and importing bank statements into Xero
- Proactively chasing outstanding debts by phone and email, maintaining accurate records of collection activity
- Managing the accounts receivable inbox and resolving customer queries promptly and professionally
- Producing and reviewing the monthly Aged Debtors Report
- Maintaining and updating debt-tracking spreadsheets and reports
- Supporting the wider finance function with ad hoc projects and administration
About You
- Previous experience in an accounts receivable, credit control or accounts assistant role
- Confident working with multiple currencies and reconciling accounts
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to proactively chase payments
- Organised, accurate and comfortable managing a varied workload
- Experience with Xero (or similar accounting software) is desirable but not essential
