An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Tax Senior to join a well-established and growing independent accountancy practice with a strong reputation across Hoddesdon. The successful candidate will currently be working in, or have previous experience within, UK accountancy practice and will enjoy working in a hands-on role within a collaborative, owner-managed firm. This position is ideally suited to someone who is confident managing a varied portfolio of tax clients, building client relationships and contributing to a small, close-knit team.
The firm works with a broad range of owner-managed businesses, including solicitor firms and FCA-regulated organisations, providing high-quality tax, accounts and advisory services.
The Role
Working closely with the Directors, you will take responsibility for managing a varied portfolio of tax clients, providing high-quality tax compliance and advisory support while building strong client relationships. The role will offer exposure to a varied client portfolio including:
- Personal and corporate tax
- Self-assessment tax returns
- Corporation tax returns
- Tax computations
- Tax planning and advisory work
- Owner-managed businesses across a range of sectors
- Supporting clients with general tax queries and advice
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and reviewing personal and corporate tax returns.
- Preparing tax computations and supporting documentation.
- Managing a portfolio of clients and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Providing clients with day-to-day tax advice and support.
- Identifying tax planning opportunities and assisting with advisory work.
- Working closely with the Accounts team to ensure accurate and efficient delivery of client work.
- Supervising and reviewing the work of junior team members where appropriate.
- Supporting and mentoring trainees and apprentices.
- Working closely with Managers and Directors to deliver a high-quality client service.
About You
To be successful, you will:
- Be ACA or ACCA qualified, recently qualified, or a strong Qualified by Experience (QBE) candidate.
- Have a background within UK accountancy practice.
- Have solid UK tax experience and be capable of managing a portfolio of clients independently.
- Be confident preparing personal and corporate tax returns with minimal supervision.
- Enjoy working directly with clients and developing long-term professional relationships.

- Salary of £40,000 - £50,000, depending on experience.
- 35-hour working week.
- Monday to Thursday: 9:00am - 5:00pm.
- Friday finish at 4:00pm.
- 25 days' annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
