About the Role
Robert Half is currently partnering with a business based in Cambridge to recruit a hands-on, detail-oriented Finance Manager on a part-time basis. Reporting directly to the Fractional Finance Director and Managing Director, you will take ownership of the day-to-day accounting operations, compliance, and month-end duties while leading a small administrative team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled finance professional seeking a flexible 20-hour working week with a collaborative local employer.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor personal and departmental accounts inboxes, handle general accounting inquiries, and maintain bank control.
- Post payment and receipt transactions to Sage 200, manage HSBC current, EUR, and USD bank reconciliations, and perform full balance sheet reconciliations.
- Manage cash collections, maintain credit control, and refine overdue debt escalation processes.
- Prepare monthly payroll via Sage Payroll, manage Aegon pension contributions, and arrange PAYE/NI and VAT payments to HMRC.
- Post month-end journals, review aged creditors, oversee the stock counting process, and report on slow-moving/obsolete inventory to executive leadership.
- Line manage, mentor, and provide cover for the Operations & Finance Administrator and Sales Administrator.
- Assist the Finance Director with annual budgets and audit preparations, while proactively reviewing customer onboarding and credit processes.
Key Requirements & Experience
- Strong hands-on accounting background, ideally with experience using Sage 200 and Sage Payroll.
- Proven track record handling transactional finance, month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations, and HMRC returns.
- Prior experience line managing or supervising direct reports.
- High level of commercial acumen with the ability to review and improve credit control and onboarding workflows.
- Strong communication skills to manage queries across internal teams, external suppliers, and senior management.
Working Pattern & Benefits
- Hours: 20 hours per week.
- Schedule: Flexible setup, with a preference for 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday.
