Interim Management Accountant
Location: Central Birmingham (Hybrid) Rate: Up to £375 per day (Inside IR35) Contract Length: 3-6 Months Start Date: Immediate
The Opportunity
Robert Half is supporting a well-established and growing business based in Central Birmingham in the recruitment of an experienced Interim Management Accountant.
This is a hands-on role requiring a fully qualified accountant who can hit the ground running and take ownership of delivering accurate and timely financial reporting. Working closely with the Financial Controller and wider finance team, you will play a key role in month-end reporting, balance sheet integrity, budgeting, forecasting and business performance analysis.
The business is looking for a proactive individual who enjoys being involved in the detail, can challenge processes and provide meaningful financial insight to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly management accounts
- Full ownership of month-end close activities
- Balance sheet reconciliations and control reviews
- Accruals, prepayments and journal preparation
- Variance analysis with clear commentary
- Budgeting and forecasting support
- Cashflow reporting and analysis
- Supporting audit requirements and year-end processes
- Business partnering with operational stakeholders
- Reviewing and improving existing finance processes and controls
- Ad hoc reporting and financial analysis as required
Candidate Profile
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
- Proven experience in a Management Accountant role
- Strong month-end and financial reporting expertise
- Excellent balance sheet control and reconciliation experience
- Advanced Excel skills
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Available to start at short notice
Desirable Experience
- Experience within SME, owner-managed or private equity-backed businesses
- Previous interim/contract experience
- Exposure to process improvement and finance transformation projects
- Strong ERP systems experience
