Roam is a rapidly growing EV charging infrastructure business with a mission to Electrify your Everyday. We are looking for a Technical Support Operative who will work closely with our Technical Manager, playing a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our EV charging infrastructure - overseeing our charging network, ensuring maximum uptime, reliability, and performance for customers. This role is ideal for someone with a technical mindset who is keen to develop within the rapidly growing EV charging industry. Full training will be provided.
This role sits within our Operations department, and will work closely with our Customer Support, Engineering, and Dev team.
What will you be doing?
We are seeking a Technical Support Operative to play a key role in the smooth operation of our EV charging infrastructure. This role focuses on the management, monitoring, and maintenance of charging assets, ensuring maximum uptime, reliability, and performance for customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing hardware and software assets, coordinating with field engineers, and supporting the technical resolution of issues, as well as providing remote support for engineers during the commissioning of new chargers.
- Asset Management: Maintaining an accurate inventory of all charge point assets (hardware, firmware versions, SIMs, spare parts); Tracking asset lifecycle, including installation, upgrades, and decommissioning; Ensuring compliance with asset management policies and procedures.
- Technical Support: Monitoring charge point networks on an ongoing basis via remote diagnostic platforms and responding to alerts/issues in line with SLAs; Providing first and second-line technical support to internal teams, field engineers, and external partners; Escalating unresolved issues to manufacturers or higher-level technical specialists; Troubleshooting connectivity, hardware, and software issues on charge points.
- Operations Coordination: Supporting planned maintenance and upgrades on existing network; Liaising with field engineers to ensure correct parts and tools are deployed; Working with the customer service team to provide updates on fault resolution; Highlighting recurring technical issues and proposing improvements.
What are we looking for?
- Previous experience in a technical support, asset management, or operations role (EV industry, telecoms, or utilities preferred)
- Familiarity with IT systems, remote monitoring tools, and ticketing systems
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage asset databases and maintain accurate records
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with engineers, suppliers, and non-technical colleagues.
