Roam is a rapidly growing EV charging infrastructure business with a mission to Electrify your Everyday. We are looking to add a new member to our estimating team, based out of our headquarters in Crawley, West Sussex. We are seeking an Estimator who will be responsible for completing estimations for electric vehicle charger installations, estimating projects from smaller scale building supply installations to larger tenders and projects.
This role sits within our operations team, reporting directly to our Pre-Construction Director. The role will suit someone with a background in electrical installations, keen attention to detail, and strong numeracy skills.
What will you be doing?
- Preparing accurate cost estimates for electrical EV charging point installations across commercial and residential sites (primarily building supply installations).
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and site survey reports and information to produce detailed bill of materials.
- Pricing electrical works including cabling, containment, civils interfaces, groundworks and ancillary equipment.
- Assessing site constraints such as power availability, DNO requirements, trenching routes and existing infrastructure.
- Liaising with project managers, engineers, installers and suppliers to validate scope and assumptions.
- Liaising with sales and client success teams to support with the production of in-depth proposals.
- Identifying risks, exclusions and opportunities within estimates and clearly communicating these to relevant stakeholders.
- Supporting on tender submissions with clear cost breakdowns, clarifications and value engineering options.
What are we looking for?
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a commercial electrical installation role.
- A minimum of 4 years' experience in an estimating role.
- Electrical vehicle charging experience desired but not essential.
- Strong IT skills – especially in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage workload and meet SLAs.
- Drive, commitment, and desire to learn and progress in a fast-paced changing industry.
- Strong communication skills, especially written and verbal.
- Team player, positive attitude.
Qualifications
- City and Guilds 18th Edition (essential).
- 2391 Test and Inspection (essential).
- EV Charger Course (desirable).
