We're recruiting for a Pig Farm Manager or an experienced Pig Stockperson ready to take the next step into farm management. Our client, a family-owned farming business in Somerset, is seeking a Pig Farm Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of their 400-sow farrow-to-finish unit. The unit operates on a 3-week batch system and combines outdoor-reared and free-range production. Dry sows are housed indoors in a modern, three-year-old scrape-through building. Farrowing takes place outdoors on concrete railway sleepers, with growers housed outside in Hudson barns. Outdoor-reared pigs are finished indoors in deep-straw scrape-through housing, while free-range pigs remain outdoors throughout. The farm's ethos is to work as closely as possible with the end consumer. All homegrown cereals are processed through the farm's own mill-and-mix system and fed back to the livestock.
