We're recruiting for a Finishing Pig Manager for a farm in East Yorkshire, HU12. Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated farm manager to lead a large 10,000‑place indoor wean‑to‑finish pig unit. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on leader with a strong understanding of pig production, people management, animal welfare, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and develop all employees working on the farm
- Take overall responsibility for the health and welfare of livestock, including feeding, moving, treating, vaccinating, and handling pigs
- Ensure animal welfare standards are maintained in line with company policies, audit requirements, and Red Tractor Assured Standards
- Promote and enforce high levels of biosecurity and site security across the unit
- Ensure all farm equipment and machinery are operated safely, maintained correctly, and remain fit for purpose
- Oversee the management and appropriate use of consumables, including feed, medicines, and other farm resources
- Maintain accurate and timely completion of all production and compliance paperwork
- Ensure the farm remains clean, tidy, and presentable at all times
- Manage site security, including responsibility for buildings, compounds, and access points outside working hours
- Monitor production performance and work with the team to achieve and exceed key performance targets
- Support, coach, and develop team members through training and performance management
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and teamwork
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, managers, and visitors
About You
- Possess a genuine passion for animal welfare and livestock management
- Previous management or leadership experience, ideally within an agricultural or livestock environment
- Strong people management skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a high-performing team
- The ability to interpret production data and use it to drive performance improvements
- Excellent planning, organisational, and logistical skills
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels
- A proactive approach and a commitment to continuous learning and personal development
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own transport, due to the rural location of the farm
