Roadern is building an AI-powered road and asset intelligence platform used by road authorities and councils. Our product is mobile-first, turning smartphone imagery, GPS, and sensor data into actionable insights at scale. We’re looking for a senior engineer who is strong in React Native, comfortable with map-heavy interfaces, and happy working across mobile and web in a startup environment. Fully remote UK-based only.
The Role:
- Build and scale React Native mobile applications (primary focus)
- Develop React + Next.js web dashboards with heavy map & geospatial visualisation
- Work with GPS, camera, and background location tracking
- Optimise performance for mobile, maps, and large datasets
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and backend teams
Must Have:
- Strong production experience with React Native
- Strong experience with React
- Experience with Next.js
- Experience with state management (Redux or similar)
- Familiarity with Android / iOS native concepts
- Experience building mobile-heavy products
- Comfortable making technical trade-offs in fast-changing environments
Nice to Have:
- Experience with maps & geospatial data
- Experience with Mapbox, React Leaflet, or similar
- Experience with GPS, device sensors, or background tracking
- Performance optimisation experience (maps, rendering, animations)
- Experience with Node.js
