Working within this innovative new function this role will contribute significantly in the area of EV Charging, Sustainability and Renewable Energy. Working with our partners the role will support Roadchef’s CaaS (Charging as a Service) business model in growing our EV charging presence on the Motorway Service Areas and will provide our customers with a reliable, simple to use, engaging and informative experience.

As part of the EV, ESG & Renewables team – this role will focus on evaluating the EV charging value chain to determine the optimal mix of in-house and outsourced operations. The successful candidate will review, update and execute our robust EV Charing outsourcing strategy, including managing tender processes, supplier evaluation, and the development of a comprehensive target operating model. This position requires significant expertise in EV infrastructure, supply chain evaluation, and partner management, with a focus on achieving operational excellence.

Our ideal candidate must have the following experience
- Experience of a major outsourcing programme, especially including multiple processes and running an invitation to tender process
- Experience in EV infrastructure, or mobility-as-a-service sectors is required
- Proven track record in supplier evaluation and procurement is a critical requirement for this role. Tender and relationship management, governance or operational leadership
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and financial modelling skills.
- Ability to navigate regulatory landscapes and manage compliance requirement
- Strong understanding of EV charging technologies and business models
- Proficiency in project management
What you will be doing:
Leading multiple processes and running an invitation to tender process.
- Ensure all CaaS projects meet environmental policies, incentives and compliance requirements
- Stay updated on relevant EV infrastructure policies, incentives and compliance requirements.
- Advocate for favourable policies and partnerships that support EV adoption and infrastructure growth.
- Proactively identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans to minimise disruptions and ensure smooth delivery
- Identify target markets, potential customers and partnerships opportunities to expand CaaS portfolio
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in EV charging technology, software, and energy storage solutions.
- Foster strong partnerships with suppliers to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and mutual success.
- Lead and oversee the execution of EV projects, coordinating teams, resources, and contractors to ensure smooth and efficient delivery.
- Track and manage project timelines, budgets, and performance metrics, adjusting as necessary to meet project goals.
- Conduct regular project meetings and status updates to communicate progress, address issues, and ensure stakeholders remain informed and aligned.
- Explore opportunities to integrate AI, IoT, and predictive analytics for enhanced service delivery.
- Update, enhance and execute the strategy for the EV Charging CaaS outsourcing.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients and partners, ensuring customer satisfaction and addressing operational concerns.
- Assess the current EV charging value chain outsourcing strategy to confirm which activities should be managed in-house and which are better suited for outsourcing.
- Develop a robust framework for decision-making, considering cost-efficiency, scalability, risk, and long-term sustainability.
- Develop tailored CaaS solutions to meet specific customer needs, focusing on scalability and efficiency.
- Monitor customer feedback and usage data to enhance service delivery and retention.
- Use experience to advise and make decisions in a timely manner.
- Ensure pricing strategies are competitive and sustainable for the CaaS model.
