Roadchef Motorway Services are looking to recruit a Retail Operations Consultant to join our growing Operations team, reporting into the Retail, Procurement and Supply Chain Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our Retail brands across our network while also being able to commute to our Support Office in Norton Canes. You will be managing and ensuring all brand plans, promotions, seasonal activity and category plans are implemented in a timely manner, while also making sure our team is upholding brand standards, best practices and store operating procedures.
Working with our site-based retail teams, you will be liaising with Support Office stakeholders to sign off Management level training requirements and deliver training plans to internal and external appointments, as well as coach and support our teams to upskill as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular planned and unplanned site visits with the Retail, Procurement & Supply Chain Director, brand partners and individually to review delivery of any activity/underperforming units with a view to understanding Commercial/Operational action plans.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure all Commercial plans and operational activities are agreed with a view to deliver the plan.
- Support and act upon feedback from the brand, internal stakeholders and site teams to improve delivery of the brand.
- Provide feedback and work with the Retail, Procurement & Supply Chain Director so that brand standards are being updated to ensure brand audits can be delivered as the best in class.
- Work with the Operations Team to ensure these are agreed and communicated out/trained as required.
- Support the wider retail team so that the trade/range/price and promotion plans and files include brand/site and regular input of competitors benchmarking and future innovation opportunities.
- Identify and support the Retail, Procurement & Supply Chain Director so that innovation and best in class opportunities are included to develop our commercial and customer propositions.
- Project manage and coordinate new developments, refits, new stores & concepts to ensure the Retail & Catering business delivers to plan.
- Ensure that all Retail and Catering brands systems (EPOS/Product and promotional files) are regularly reviewed, updated and maintained as required so that units are trading legally and margin/profitability is maximised.
- Support site teams in the delivery of KPIs.
- Monitor customer service standards on all site visits and feedback to the team on duty.
- Conduct all necessary brand audits and/or customer experience visits to ensure that minimum brand standards are being met, and provide timely feedback thereof to all relevant stakeholders.
- Develop suitably detailed action plans with all site teams to follow up on any opportunities identified as part of any brand audit or site visit, however formal or informal.
Required Experience
- Multi-site retail/leisure/catering experience required.
- Strong track record of retail and operational design and delivery.
- Experience of convenience and travel retail environment.
- Able to communicate effectively to give clarity to others.
- Ability to work on own initiative, setting standards for others and monitoring performance.
- Previous management experience, demonstrating motivational skills.
- Strong IT skills.
- Good planning and organising skills, able to coordinate activities effectively and a focus for attention to detail.
