What you’ll do

As Compliance Manager, your primary focus will be conducting Operator Compliance Audits in line with Traffic Commissioner requirements. You will work closely with operators to share best practices, provide guidance on compliance requirements, and support them in addressing any areas of non‑compliance. You will also support the implementation of RHA policies, engage with members to drive retention through clear communication and proactive support, and represent the RHA with external stakeholders to enhance its reputation. Bringing strong knowledge of employment law, commercial matters, and national legislation, you will ensure high standards and consistency across all compliance activities.

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Deliver regional compliance services to include RHA Contracts of Employment and operational audits including O Licence Compliance
  • Support in the enhancement of the regional compliance services and involvement in promotional activity
  • Work with the Head of Compliance, Deputy Head of Compliance and compliance administrators in reviewing documents
  • Complete all necessary periodic reports for circulation to Head of Compliance/Deputy Head & Quality and audit and compliance administrators
  • Retain members through a positive customer experience
  • Implement and disseminate all RHA policies
  • Enhance the name, reputation and influence of the RHA to members and potential members
  • Communicate findings of any CoE, audit and reviews as required
  • Attend meetings with a wide variety of organisations that interface with the RHA
  • Highlight PR and media opportunities to the RHA’s media team as they arise
  • Provide member feedback to the RHA policy team on policy related issues
  • Promote RHA products and services wherever possible
  • Attend internal meetings & member briefings (where applicable)

Required knowledge

  • Understanding of all elements within the compliance procedures to ensure that all documents are completed accurately and efficiently
  • Full understanding of quality standards and procedures
  • Understanding of common issues raised by members in areas such as operational legislation, employment and commercial matters; and a broad understanding of less common subjects with awareness of suitable RHA and third‑party resources
  • Understanding of government consultation matters, the Association’s response and reasoning, and the position regarding campaigns for legislative changes

General requirements

  • Handle all enquiries promptly; provide an answer on the same working day where possible, otherwise offer an agreed follow‑up time scale
  • Advise colleagues on useful information sources
  • Use reference material considering colleagues’ needs
  • Keep detailed contact records in the CRM database
  • Pass non‑member expressions of interest to the recruitment team at Peterborough, except for urgent requests that may be handled directly

Other duties

  • Expect considerable travel and driving; occasional work outside normal geographical boundaries may require overnight stays
  • Potential allocation of regional or national duties as required

Experience and skills required

  • Valid driving licence; able to drive company vehicle without restrictions
  • Preferably prior experience in a field‑based role
  • Highly conscious of processes and procedures
  • Effective self‑starter with the ability to manage workload and work as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly report writing
  • Positive track record in attention to detail
  • Competent in MS Office and relevant software and systems
