A leading UK contractor specialising in groundworks, infrastructure, and civil engineering is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support major projects across Kent and Suffolk. This role is well suited to a self‑motivated, technically strong engineer who can take ownership of site delivery, quality control and accurate setting out.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Contracts Manager or Managing Engineer, you will provide precise setting out, technical guidance and construction support across multiple civils packages. Projects include roads, drainage, earthworks, RC ground beams, pile caps, utilities and general infrastructure. The position requires a strong balance of technical capability, communication skills and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting out using Leica TS16, GPS and other relevant surveying equipment
  • Producing topographical surveys, as‑built drawings and accurate site data
  • Preparing and maintaining QA documentation, including ITPs, RFIs and CVIs
  • Monitoring site progress, ensuring works are completed to specification
  • Providing engineering support and guidance to site teams
  • Managing technical queries and design issues
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards
  • Liaising with subcontractors, supervisors and senior management

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in civil engineering/site engineering
  • Strong background in groundworks, drainage and highways
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and ideally Civils 3D
  • Experienced with Leica Total Stations (TS16 essential)
  • SSSTS or SMSTS, and valid CSCS card
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Full UK driving licence and Right to Work in the UK
