Teaching Assistant Hours: Full time – 37 hours per week, 40 weeks worked (Term time plus 4 weeks).

Salary: £23,971 – £24,476 FTE (£21,573.90 – £22,028.40 pro-rata) per annum depending on relevant professional qualification

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support the planning and delivery of high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment for young people, including those with EHC plans, both in and out of the classroom. You will share a strong belief in young people\’s ability to achieve their work and personal goals, set challenging expectations, and promote self-esteem and independence.

You will assist learners in engaging with teaching activities and shared active learning using digital platforms such as Google Classroom and assistive technology. You will create and maintain a purposeful and supportive teaching environment in line with lesson and curriculum plans. Using strategies in liaison with teachers/tutors, you will support young people to achieve their learning goals, building from easier to more difficult tasks and breaking down complex skills to foster independence, life skills, and work skills.

Responsibilities include assisting with the planning and preparation of learning activities, establishing clear communication and professional relationships with teachers/tutors, and maintaining a high level of professionalism, good verbal and written communication skills, empathy, and flexibility to meet diverse learner and staff needs.

Candidates should hold or be working towards Maths and English Level 2/C grade and possess a Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification.

Department Info

You will work closely with the vocational curriculum team, reporting directly to the Curriculum Manager and liaising with tutors to support learners. While primarily supporting curriculum areas at a specific campus, you may occasionally support other sites as needed.
