Location: Dearne Valley Campus, Rotherham.
Salary: £17,911 (Unqualified) or £20,363 (Qualified) per year + benefits.
Vacancy type: Permanent, Part time (22.5 hours each week, all year round).

Overview
This role supports Year 11 learners who are Electively Home Educated (EHE) by adding value to their education, re‑engaging them with learning, and supporting them to progress into college rather than becoming NEET.
About the Engage Programme
Engage is a specialist Year 11 programme designed for learners who are EHE, providing a structured, supportive college environment.
- Build confidence and re‑engage with learning
- Develop independence and study habits
- Explore vocational pathways across college
- Prepare for successful transition into post‑16 courses
Responsibilities
- Create engaging, practical and meaningful learning experiences for learners.
- Deliver creative, hands‑on sessions that motivate and inspire.
- Support learners to build confidence, independence and routine.
- Introduce learners to vocational areas across the college.
- Embed English, maths and digital skills in real‑life contexts.
- Use trauma‑informed and restorative approaches to support behaviour and engagement.
- Work closely with pastoral and support staff to remove barriers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience working with young people, ideally Year 11, 14–16, alternative provision or EHE.
- Confidence supporting learners with SEND, SEMH or barriers to engagement.
- Skilled at building relationships with reluctant or disengaged learners.
- Creative in delivering practical, vocationally‑linked learning.
- Belief that every young person deserves a positive next step.
- Level 2 literacy and numeracy (GCSE C/4 or above) or equivalent.
- Background may be from FE, schools, alternative provision, youth work or industry.
Department Information
Reports to the Deputy Head of Inclusive Curriculum and works with Lecturers, Pastoral Coaches, Job Coaches and Learning Support Assistants to support learners' engagement and progression.
