About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Electrician to join our Estates Department. Reporting to the Director of Estates & Facilities, you will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the electrical infrastructure across our multi-site college campus. This is a dynamic, cross-campus position perfect for a solution-focused professional who takes pride in ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient environment for students and staff.
- Maintenance & Repair: Diagnose faults and repair/replace wiring, lighting, motors, and fixtures using technical schematics and drawings.
- Installation & Upgrades: Execute new installations (sockets, control systems) and support a rolling programme of infrastructure upgrades.
- Testing & Compliance: Lead essential safety checks, including EICRs, PAT, and emergency lighting tests, ensuring all documentation meets regulatory standards.
- Project Management: Plan electrical improvements and oversee external contractors during major works.
- Safety & Logistics: Manage hazardous waste disposal and champion safe working practices across all sites.
You will be an organized self-starter capable of managing a varied workload across multiple locations. You should have a deep understanding of current electrical regulations and a commitment to maintaining high-quality digital and physical records of all works. This role is a cross campus role requiring you to manage tasks and responsibilities effectively travelling between multiple sites with regular evening and weekend working.
You will…
- You will hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths (or be willing to undertake).
- You will hold a recognised industry qualification with proven experience of success in your practical abilities.
- You will have experience in electrical, ideally within a commercial or domestic setting.
- You should have a working knowledge and understanding of BS7671 standards.

Department Info
The Estates Group Electrician reports into the Director of Estates, Facilities, Health & Safety and Security and will work as part of the estates department. You will liaise with colleagues across all sites, as well as Directors of Campus and the Marketing department.
