About the Role

Are you a master of the workshop with a passion for passing on your skills? We are looking for an experienced automotive professional to join our dynamic Motor Vehicle department. Within this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering outstanding teaching and assessment up to Level 3 which includes adult learning programmes, including specialist courses in F-Gas, MOT, and Hybrid/Electric vehicle qualifications. You will mentor and support learners from diverse backgrounds, helping them secure apprenticeships and careers. The Motor Vehicle Lecturer will need to demonstrate strong subject expertise across a wide range of automotive systems and technologies.

Key specialisms include:

  • Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Level 3 qualified or equivalent)
  • Chassis systems, including suspension and structural components
  • Braking and steering systems diagnostics and repair
  • Vehicle electrical and electronic systems
  • Airbag and safety restraint systems
  • Fault finding, diagnostics, and repair techniques
  • Hybrid and Electric Vehicle technology, with up-to-date industry knowledge

Additional desirable areas of expertise:

  • F-Gas refrigerant handling and air conditioning systems
  • MOT testing standards, practices, and procedures

You will inspire students by sharing real-world insights from the automotive industry and assess students’ progress in our state-of-the-art workshops, ensuring they meet industry standards. Candidates should be an effective and motivated team player, with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with colleagues and management to achieve strategic and organisational objectives.

Department Info

As a member of the Motor Vehicle delivery team, you will play an important role in developing and creating resources, as well as tracking and monitoring students, to promote positive outcomes and achieve the key priorities for the College. Your line manager will be the Curriculum Manager. You will regularly report on your objectives to update your line manager regarding a range of KPI’s including (but not limited to) student recruitment, retention, anticipated achievement, attendance and punctuality.
