About the Role
In this role, you will work with Curriculum staff to facilitate our new learning workshops and support learners to secure the best possible educational outcomes in maths and English.
In the role of an English and Maths Skills Coach you will:
- Drive individual learner progress in English and/or Maths skills in facilitated workshop and other support contexts, ensuring learners make consistently good progress against their starting points.
- Provide ongoing support to students through approved support plans.
This is a truly rewarding position, which supports our learners at a critical point in their lives, working alongside colleagues across the English and Maths Team and wider cross-college departments.
Working pattern:
08:00 - 17:00 Thursday
08:00 - 16:30 Friday
Please note: Flexible working will be considered. This is a face-to-face role although some online work will be expected.
You will...
To be successful as an English and Maths Skills Coach you will have experience of working with young people, understanding barriers learners come across which affect their achievement. You will have had previous successful experience of operational delivery through effective planning and monitoring of performance against action plans and targets, particularly with young people within education. You may also have proven experience of coaching/mentoring others to make successful progress in their learning and have facilitated group learning e.g. workshops or classroom learning.
You must hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths (or higher in one or both specialisms). It would be advantageous if you also obtained a recognised teaching qualification and evidence of recent and relevant CPD, a degree level qualification and an online learning certification (i.e. Google Certified Educator).
Successful candidates must be able to support across both English and Maths. You will be part of the cross-college maths and English team and you will collaborate effectively with cross college staff including Vocational Teams; the Quality Team, the Additional Learning Support Team, the Exams Team and the Library Staff.
