Rotherham Education Services (RES) supply casual and temporary staffing to the RNN Group, which consists of Rotherham, Dearne Valley and North Notts colleges.
Are you passionate about supporting the learning journey of students within education? A Technician with Construction Skills offers a chance for you to carry out a varied role where you will help support and develop the facilities on offer.
Key Responsibilities:- Technical Support: Provide hands-on assistance to staff and students in workshop sessions, ensuring the smooth delivery of programmes in Joinery.
- Program Support: Actively contribute to the success of our Construction departments by offering technical expertise and troubleshooting assistance. You will have the opportunity to work in our workshops and use your knowledge, experience and ideas to continuously improve our current processes and procedures with the potential to develop these further to create the best training facilities in South Yorkshire. You will also be responsible for providing technical assistance and advice by taking an active role in supporting academic staff and students in all workshop activities.
To be successful as a Construction Technician you will need:
- Construction Background: A strong understanding of various aspects of Joinery and different specialist practices is essential.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain workshop equipment and tools.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and provide timely solutions.
You will hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths (or be willing to undertake), training in Health and Safety Principles and First Aid at Work but these are not essential. You should also have a Level 2 (or above) vocationally relevant qualification in a core discipline.
Department Info: The role of Technician will work closely with our team of Technicians within the areas of Construction and Engineering, supporting our Lecturers and Curriculum Team Leaders as well as Apprenticeship Skills Tutors in practical workshop sessions. You will report to the Curriculum Team Leader within the designated area on a day-to-day basis.
