RNN Group is looking to appoint a Lecturer in Public Services and Sport to join the curriculum team at North Notts College. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and student-focused lecturer who can deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Public Services and Sport programmes. The successful candidate will inspire learners, support them to achieve their potential and help prepare them for progression into higher levels of study, employment, industry pathways or public service careers.
You will teach and assess across a range of courses and learning programmes linked to your skills, qualifications and experience. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons, assess learner progress, provide constructive feedback and support learners to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed for their next steps. The role will also include group tutoring responsibilities, supporting learners with their academic progress, attendance, punctuality, personal development and wider employability skills. You will work closely with curriculum colleagues, support teams, parents and guardians, employers and external partners to ensure learners receive the right support and guidance throughout their programme.
Key responsibilities- Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Public Services and Sport programmes.
- Plan and prepare effective lessons, schemes of work, learning resources and assessment activities.
- Support learners to develop vocational, academic, practical and employability skills.
- Track learner progress, attendance, punctuality, assignment completion and achievement.
- Set clear targets for learners and support them to make strong progress.
- Provide academic and pastoral support as a group tutor.
- Support learner recruitment, interviews, enrolment, open events and wider promotional activity.
- Work with colleagues to develop curriculum quality, share good practice and improve learner outcomes.
- Support enrichment, work experience and employer engagement opportunities.
- Complete administrative duties linked to registers, records, reporting, exam claims and awarding body requirements.
- Take part in internal quality assurance, moderation and standardisation activity.
- Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion and positive learner behaviour.
You will have relevant industry or teaching experience in Public Services, Sport or a related subject area. You will be confident in supporting learners of different levels and abilities, with the ability to make learning engaging, inclusive and relevant to their future goals. You will be organised, professional and committed to high standards. You will understand the importance of attendance, retention, achievement and learner progression, and you will work as part of a team to support learners to succeed.
You will need- Experience of teaching, training or working within a relevant Public Services, Sport or related vocational area.
- A relevant subject qualification or professional experience within the specialist area.
- A teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
- Level 2 English and maths, or equivalent.
- An assessment qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
- Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding, learner support, equality, diversity and inclusion.
