We are seeking a Solution Architect to join our Enterprise Architecture team. This role contributes to saving lives at sea by ensuring that information technology solutions and programs across the organization are properly architected, designed, and coordinated to support RNLI’s core mission through education, influence, supervision, and rescue. You will help create a vision for specific projects and ensure the project stays aligned to that vision.
As a Junior Solution Architect, you will support the architecture and design of end-to-end solutions, ensuring alignment with strategic enterprise and business architectures. This specialist role involves defining solutions for change within the wider enterprise architecture and developing supporting roadmaps.
Under guidance from the Lead Solution Architect, your responsibilities include:
- Producing and leading solution architecture for RNLI systems in response to technological and business demands, creating Solution Concepts or High-Level Designs that provide a high-level view of the target solution across business, data, application, and technology domains.
- Ensuring that designs adhere to High-Level Architecture Principles, or providing valid justifications for deviations.
- Developing interim solution roadmaps to support phased transitions to target solutions.
- Logging exceptions and domain standard deviations during solution design and development.
- Supporting Domain Architects in creating and maintaining technology roadmaps and decision-making regarding applications and infrastructure.
- Participating in Architecture Review Board and governance activities to review and approve solutions, ensuring conformance to enterprise architecture.
To qualify, you should have:
- Experience in a Solution Architect role or similar activities demonstrating relevant capabilities.
- A desire to develop your career and skills as a Solution Architect.
- Self-motivation and an eagerness to stay updated with technological developments.
- The ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive improvements aligned with organizational strategy and architecture.
Knowledge or experience with RNLI or volunteering for similar organizations is highly desirable, along with enthusiasm for the role.
