Your role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager on the Poole Campus Optimisation Programme. This is a multi-year programme to create a more cost effective, sustainable and engaging campus. The successful candidate will lead and manage the end-to-end process for the disposal and/or demolition of commercial properties within the organisation’s estate. This includes planning and executing the legal, technical, and operational aspects of each project, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies while maximising value and minimising risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Property Disposal
    • Oversee the sale process for surplus commercial properties, including site assessments, valuations, marketing, and negotiations with prospective buyers.
    • Liaise with agents, legal advisors, and surveyors to ensure smooth progression of transactions.
    • Prepare and present disposal strategies and reports to senior leadership for approval.
  • Demolition Management
    • Scope, tender, and manage demolition works, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
    • Coordinate the disconnection of services, site clearance, and waste disposal in compliance with environmental and health & safety regulations.
    • Manage contractors and consultants on site and oversee adherence to CDM regulations.
  • Legal and Compliance Oversight
    • Ensure all sales and demolitions are compliant with relevant property, planning, health & safety, and environmental legislation.
    • Lead on legal due diligence, title reviews, land registry matters, and resolution of encumbrances or easements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Work with internal departments (legal, finance, facilities) and external stakeholders (planning authorities, utilities, tenants) to progress projects effectively.
    • Communicate project status, risks, and decisions to executive stakeholders and board members as required.
  • Risk and Project Management
    • Develop and manage project plans, budgets, risk registers, and timelines for each disposal and demolition project.
    • Implement governance processes and reporting frameworks.

About You
The successful candidate will have proven experience managing consultants, contractors, and multi-disciplinary teams on projects related to commercial property. Ideally, you’ll have demonstrable understanding of construction and demolition processes and health & safety legislation (CDM Regulations), plus working knowledge of property law, contracts, and planning regulations. With a proven mix of project management and people skills, you will be someone who leads with integrity and consideration. You’ll have excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify and resolve project risks and issues.
