About us

Our purpose is simple: to save lives at sea. 24 hours a day, every day, RNLI lifesavers are ready to launch to the rescue. We are looking for a Capital Appeal Manager to join our expanding Philanthropy Team. This role will act as the critical project manager of our newly formed £150m national appeal, launching in Spring 2027. This five-year project will focus on renovating the RNLI stations in need of repair. Working with teams from across the RNLI, inspiring collaboration and keeping stakeholders on board with regular communications, ensuring we are maximising opportunities and managing risk.

Your role

As the Capital Appeal Manager you will be tasked with focus on the following areas:

  • Lead on project management and stakeholder engagement on the national capital appeal
  • Manage the overarching plan of activities and track results from all teams
  • Be responsible for managing the income and expenditure budgets
  • Work closely with Estates colleagues to ensure a strong understanding of the capital projects
  • Lead the preparation of all national capital appeal campaign literature to inspire supporters
  • Working across all key fundraising and marketing teams to ensure a fully integrated campaign.

You will enjoy variety - whether it’s understanding the technical nature of a project, talking to a prospective donor about how their gift could make a difference, working with volunteers or supporting colleagues on marketing and PR campaigns. Occasional travel with overnight stays will be required within the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

To be considered as a Capital Appeal Manager you will need:

  • Track record of success in capital appeal funding and achievement of income against agreed financial targets
  • Ability to apply a broad range of communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written) to inspire and influence donors, volunteers and colleagues to support the appeal
  • Strong relationship management experience
  • Capable of briefing creatives to deliver a compelling proposition, case for support and campaign resources
  • A broad understanding of fundraising functions particularly philanthropy, trusts, corporate and community
  • Proven organisational skills, including excellent project management and budget management skills.
