About RNID

We are RNID, the national charity supporting 18 million people in the UK who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus. We’re working to end discrimination, improve hearing today, and fund world‑class research to restore hearing and silence tinnitus. Partnering across industry, government, charities and education, we drive meaningful change nationwide. With a proud history and bold ambitions, we embrace innovation while valuing the power of local, community‑based support.

Join our team

At RNID, we have ambitious plans to create real impact for our communities — and we need the right people to make it happen. We’re a remote organisation with colleagues across the UK, coming together twice a year for inspiring Staff Summits to connect, share ideas and learn. We combine the best of digital and in‑person working and offer sector‑leading flexible working from day one to support life outside work. Our values being connected, insightful, curious and passionate, shape everything we do.

The Senior User Researcher will:

  • Lead user research consultancy for corporate partners to improve accessibility and inclusion
  • Manage end‑to‑end research projects independently
  • Lead research for RNID’s digital and service design work

How This Role Feeds Into RNID’s Strategy

The Insight and Evidence Team drives RNID’s mission by producing user‑centred evidence that shapes products, services and policy. This role strengthens our consultancy offer, builds partnerships, and ensures our services are inclusive, embedding accessibility and lived experience at the heart of everything we do.

What Makes This Role Exciting And Unique

This is a rare opportunity to lead impactful research that improves lives, working across sectors to grow an accessibility‑and inclusion‑focused consultancy within a values‑driven, remote‑first organisation. The role is remote‑first, with regular UK travel for in‑person usability testing, interviews, workshops and other research activities.

You will be responsible for…

  • Managing end‑to‑end user research projects, both internally and for external clients, as part of the wider research team but as the only UX researcher at RNID.
  • Scoping and quoting for new consultancy work, aligning with RNID’s strategic priorities.
  • Improving research practices and embedding inclusive design principles across RNID.
  • Working closely with the Corporate Partnerships team to develop new opportunities.
  • Personally delivering hands‑on research, including recruitment, incentives, logistics, analysis and reporting, rather than overseeing delivery by others.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead qualitative and quantitative user research projects end‑to‑end, delivering high‑quality insights that shape inclusive products and services.
  • Scope and quote for new consultancy work, aligning research goals with client needs and RNID’s strategic priorities.
  • Develop and manage relationships with corporate partners, contributing to proposals and identifying new opportunities.
  • Lead user research for RNID’s own digital and service offerings, embedding UX principles and accessibility throughout.
  • Collaborate across teams to embed inclusive, evidence‑led design into RNID’s work.
  • Use a broad range of research methods, including interviews, focus groups, workshops, co‑design, in‑person testing and remote research across both digital and physical services.

You

You’re an experienced, strategic user researcher who thrives in client‑facing roles and confidently leads projects independently. You communicate insights clearly, apply inclusive design principles, and are passionate about driving meaningful change for people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus. You’re committed to ethical, accessible research and value lived experience. BSL skills aren’t essential, but experience using BSL is welcomed.

Qualifications

No formal qualifications are required.
