Our client is a leading supplier of fresh produce, dedicated to delivering the highest quality products from seed to fork. The company specialises in importing and distributing exotic fruits and premium whole vegetables, operating within a low-care site environment with 24/7 operations. They are committed to exceeding customer expectations through their technical expertise, innovative solutions, and unwavering dedication to quality and safety standards.

Job Purpose:

As a Site Quality Technical Manager you will design, implement, and manage a robust quality management system to ensure the products are safe, of the highest quality, and legally compliant while meeting best practice guidelines and customer requirements. Strong leadership skills, effective communication, and a passion for continual improvement are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Management: Develop and maintain a robust FSQM system, lead the site HACCP team, manage internal audits, and ensure compliance with the Group Quality Manual.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, train, and motivate a professional Quality team, ensuring high standards of performance.
  • Customer Relations: Act as the primary technical contact, managing customer complaints and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality products.
  • Continuous Improvement: Analyse customer complaint data, conduct root cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce complaint levels and enhance quality.
  • Supplier Management: Conduct risk-assessed supplier audits and implement corrective action plans as necessary.
  • Product Knowledge: Be the subject matter expert for company's product ranges, understanding the challenges and opportunities in sourcing, distribution, and shelf-life.
  • KPI Management: Create and review KPI trackers, technical reports, and improvement plans, ensuring timely and accurate communication.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Food Science, Horticulture, or Agricultural-based discipline or equivalent.
  • HACCP Level 3/4, Level 3 Food Safety supervision, and Internal & 3rd Party Auditing certifications.
  • Fluent in English (additional languages are advantageous).
  • Clean, full UK driving license and flexibility to travel to other UK sites and overseas farming operations.

Experience:

  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Experience in the fresh produce or food/horticultural production environment.
  • Expertise in quality management systems and data analysis.
  • Experienced auditor with a background in leading BRC & customer audits.
  • Strong project management and NPD/EPD expertise.
