Senior Supervisor Automotive Logistics Compound

- Type: Permanent Annualised Contract (Average of 40 hours per week)

RMS are seeking a results-driven senior supervisor to lead operations at our automotive logistics client s compound in Crewe. This is a key leadership role ensuring operational excellence, efficiency, and outstanding customer service. In addition to overseeing day-to-day activities and managing the compound team, the Senior Supervisor will cover for the General Manager during periods of absence, ensuring continuity and consistent performance.
About the Role
Reporting to the Compound Manager and working closely with the Site Manager, you will lead the coordination of all vehicle movements within the site. Your role is to guide, train, and support the compound team to ensure all activities are carried out safely, accurately, and in line with company procedures and client expectations. When the General Manager is unavailable, you will assume responsibility for the overall running of the site, including staff management, client communication, and operational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and deputise for the General Manager as required, including site leadership, client liaison, and reporting.
- Evaluate workflows and optimise staffing to ensure efficient operations.
- Set a strong example to promote a positive, can-do culture among the team.
- Provide leadership, training, and direction to team members while identifying areas for development.
- Ensure all vehicle movements are executed safely and in accordance with site protocols.
- Uphold and manage quality standards through monitoring, documenting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist the Compound Manager in meeting client expectations and generating accurate KPIs.
- Promote a culture of health and safety; investigate and report any incidents, maintaining thorough records.
This is a predominantly outdoor role, requiring work across varying weather conditions. PPE will be provided. Daily tasks include walking and vehicle handling in a large logistics compound.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Be over 25 years old (for insurance purposes), with a full UK driving licence, no more than 6 penalty points, and no DR10 convictions.
- Have flexibility to work rotating shifts as outlined above.
- Bring proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within the automotive or logistics industry.
- Be safety-conscious with a calm, level-headed approach.
- Possess a strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations and work in cooperation with site managers to maintain a compliant and safe working environment.
