RMS Recruitment is working with a leading engineering company that supplies bespoke automation systems to blue-chip manufacturing companies. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative design and engineering team in Darlington.
Location: Darlington, Co. Durham
Salary: £26k - £30k per annum
Working hours: Monday to Friday – 7:30AM to 4PM
Contract: Permanent position, fully office based.
You will support the design and development of bespoke machinery, robotic automation cells, jigs and fixtures, gaining hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design of bespoke machinery, robotic automation cells, jigs and fixtures using 3D modelling software
- Produce 2D manufacturing drawings for components and assemblies
- Carry out 3D printing of prototype parts and assemblies using Markforged and Bambu Labs printers
- Assist with component research and selection
- Support the assembly of jigs, fixtures and tooling in a workshop environment
- Attend customer sites as required
About You
Applicants must hold a degree in Mechanical, Design or Automotive Engineering. We are looking for a motivated graduate who can demonstrate as many of the following as possible:
- Experience with 3D modelling software such as Siemens NX, SolidWorks or Inventor
- Understanding of engineering drawings and tolerancing
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication and additive manufacturing
- Aware of material types and their applications
- Knowledge of automation, pneumatics and mechanical systems
- A strong interest in automation and engineering innovation
- Excellent attention to detail and a willingness to learn
