Working under the close supervision and direction of the Technical Manager, the L2 Vehicle Technicians support the inspection, maintenance, and basic repair of vehicles to ensure they are roadworthy and compliant with CAT UK's standards and relevant health and safety regulations. This is a hands-on, developmental role suited to a Level 2 Qualified Mechanic looking to gain further experience and build practical skills in a workshop environment.
Key responsibilities of the Role:
- Assist in identifying and reporting vehicle faults, escalating complex issues to senior technicians or supervisors.
- Carry out routine servicing and basic maintenance on a range of vehicles and light commercial units.
- Support in removing and refitting minor components under supervision.
- Use technical manuals and guidance to assist in basic diagnostic procedures and repair tasks.
- Clean, test, and prepare parts and equipment as directed by senior staff.
- Carry out simple electrical system checks and minor repairs, with appropriate support.
- Maintain workshop cleanliness and ensure all tools and equipment are stored correctly and used safely.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Undertake other duties as instructed, appropriate to the level of experience and qualifications.
To be successful, you must be over 22 years old, possess a valid driver's license with fewer than 6 penalty points, and have no DR10 offenses for insurance purposes. To succeed in this role, candidates must be able to work the specified shift times above. You must have a L2 NVQ (or equivalent) in Mechanics or similar. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years' experience in Pre Delivery Inspections. The ideal candidate will be required to complete a skills test and evidence diagnostic capability. The ideal candidate will understand health and safety and cooperate with managers to comply with Health & Safety regulations.
