RMS International is an expanding importer of innovative children\’s toys, crafts and stationery, both licensed and own brand that are sold throughout the world in key markets. Established for over 40 years with its head office in Swinton, Manchester. RMS has global reach with offices and showrooms around the world.
The Role
We are looking to hire a Buying Assistant to work within our UK team. An ideal first step for those wanting to have a career within buying, although this is mainly an administrative role to begin with but room to progress for the right individual.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Product Set up – Setting up new product codes and creating precise product specifications on our internal systems.
- Raising artwork / design briefs for our inhouse studio based on customer requirements and checking accuracy of output.
- Buying Administration – Supporting the senior buyers with day‑to‑day admin such as purchase orders, carton markings and chasing in samples.
- Critical Path Management – Involving the lifecycle of a product from initial concept/brief through to delivery ensuring customer dates are met.
- Supplier Relationships – Maintain relationships through daily liaison with Far East suppliers.
- Sample Management – Ensuring red and gold seal samples are recorded internally and adhere to the approval process.
- Liaise with QC to ensure products are processed and fit for use.
- Arrange hi-resolution images with the photographer.

- A numerate, articulate & creative individual who can thrive under pressure, with strong communication & team skills.
- Excellent computer skills with a proficient use of Excel & PowerPoint.
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all departments, internal and external colleagues, in order to maintain effective communication amongst cross functional departments.
- Have a clear understanding of the company’s policies and how purchasing contributes to these.
