Ambulance Service is seeking an experienced Interim Health & Safety Manager for a 3‑month assignment (with potential to extend) supporting Kent, Surrey and Sussex, with an immediate start. 3 positions available.
This is a senior operational interim role within a complex NHS environment, providing Health & Safety leadership, statutory compliance oversight, incident management, and assurance to senior stakeholders.

Health & Safety experience desirable
We are looking for candidates who are immediately or very quickly available, confident operating autonomously, and experienced acting as a competent person under Health & Safety legislation. The role acts as the Trust’s competent person for Health & Safety and works closely with senior leaders, managers, and frontline services.
Key Focus Areas:
- Health & Safety compliance across multiple sites and services
- Incident reporting, investigation and learning (including RIDDOR)
- Risk assessments, audits and risk register management
- Data analysis, reporting and assurance to senior stakeholders
- Policy review and regulatory liaison
- Supporting and embedding a positive safety culture
Essential Experience:
- NEBOSH (or equivalent) and strong professional H&S background
- CMIOSH or working towards Chartered status
- Proven NHS or complex healthcare Health & Safety experience
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation
- Confident engaging with senior leaders and regulators
- Able to work independently at pace and manage competing priorities
Logistics:
- Immediate availability required
- Must be able to travel independently (own vehicle)
- AFC‑aligned travel and subsistence paid
