ABOUT RML

RML Roofing Contractor (RMLFS) is a specialist industrial and commercial roofing contractor and part of the MGT Group. We deliver roofing refurbishment projects nationwide for blue-chip clients across manufacturing, logistics, retail and public sector estates.

Our projects division is growing. We are hiring an experienced Project Manager to lead roofing refurbishment projects valued at £25,000 and above, from pre-start through to handover.

THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Project Manager takes full ownership of a portfolio of live roofing projects — typically five to ten at any one time — and is accountable for delivering each one safely, on programme and on margin. You will run jobs end-to-end: attending the pre-start with the sales estimator, producing the programme and H&S documentation, managing the supply chain and site teams, controlling costs against the worst-case scenario budget, liaising with the client, and closing each project out with a full handover pack including O&M documentation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Full project lifecycle management of roofing refurbishment projects £25,000+
  • Pre-start meetings, job handovers from sales, and programme creation
  • Ownership of health & safety documentation — RAMS, inductions, and compliance on site
  • Cost control and margin management — delivering each project to the agreed margin
  • Supply chain and subcontractor management, including raising and approving orders
  • Client liaison throughout the project — progress reports, valuations and variations
  • Final project close-out and O&M handover
  • Participation in the morning reactive maintenance call-out rota
  • Site surveys (full training provided on our surveying systems)

A TYPICAL WEEK

We operate a hybrid model built around the needs of live sites and the wider team:

  • Mondays — typically on site, reviewing programme and meeting site teams
  • Tuesday to Thursday — mix of site visits, client meetings, and office time
  • Thursday project meeting — attendance required (remote)
  • Fridays — office or home working for programme updates, paperwork, valuations
  • Monthly — at least one centralised hub day with the wider projects team - last Friday of the month required in Liverpool

LOCATION & COVERAGE

This role covers projects south of Manchester, with a concentration around the Midlands and the South East. Candidates based in or near Milton Keynes, Swindon, Northampton or north of London are ideal, but we are flexible for the right person. A full UK driving licence is required. A company vehicle or car allowance is provided.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Proven experience managing industrial / commercial roofing refurbishment projects
  • Confident running multiple concurrent projects (five to ten)
  • Strong commercial awareness — comfortable with budgets, margins and variations
  • Background in sheeting, cladding and flat-roofing systems
  • Able to switch between planned projects and reactive maintenance as needed
  • Clear communicator — confident with clients, site teams and subcontractors

CERTIFICATIONS

  • SMSTS — Site Management Safety Training Scheme (required)
  • IPAF — International Powered Access Federation (required)
  • CSCS card (Manager or Professional level)
  • First Aid and Asbestos Awareness (training can be provided)

SALARY & BENEFITS

  • Salary: £competitive dependant on experience p.a. — negotiable for exceptional candidates with strong refurbishment experience
  • Commission and bonus: project-linked commission and performance bonus scheme
  • Vehicle: company vehicle or car allowance
  • Company pension scheme
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Ongoing training and career development across the MGT Group
  • Mobile phone, laptop and all required PPE
