An exciting scale-up is on a mission to transform its product offering and is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to help shape the future of their platform as they enter a high-growth phase.
Day Rate: Up to £500 Outside IR35
Contract Length: 3 Months
Start Date: Immediate
As Senior Frontend Engineer, you’ll play a key role in evolving the platform’s frontend architecture, setting technical direction, and leading by example. Working in close partnership with software engineers, QA specialists, product managers, and designers, you’ll help deliver a seamless, accessible, and engaging user experience for a growing customer base.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Design & Development: Building high-quality, reusable, and scalable JavaScript and TypeScript code to bring product visions to life.
- Technical Leadership: Guiding technical decision-making, mentoring junior engineers, and driving frontend excellence across the team.
- Optimisation: Troubleshooting performance issues and ensuring smooth, intuitive experiences for end-users.
- Collaboration: Partnering with design and product colleagues to deliver user-centric solutions that are accessible and visually compelling.
- Quality Assurance: Championing best practices in testing, CI/CD workflows, and code quality standards.
- Innovation: Staying at the forefront of frontend technologies and bringing new ideas into the business.
About You
You’ll bring:
- Expert-level skills in JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, HTML5, CSS/SASS/LESS and responsive design.
- Deep knowledge of React and its ecosystem (Hooks, Context, Routers, State Management, Next.js).
- Proven experience building and scaling frontend systems from the ground up, with a clear understanding of architectural trade-offs.
- Hands-on experience with TDD and automated testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright).
- Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and frontend-backend integration.
- A user-first mindset, with hands-on collaboration alongside design teams and tools like Figma.
- Previous experience in start-up or scale-up environments, thriving in agile and fast-paced product development settings.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical conversations.
Nice to have: Familiarity with Webpack/Vite/Rollup, SSR technologies (ideally with Python/Django), PostHog, and mentoring experience.
