We're partnering with a sports technology business entering a major phase of growth in their build of a SaaS platform designed to transform how brands and rights holders operate within the sports industry. Backed by an established international agency group but operating with the pace and ambition of a startup, the business has already launched its first live product and is now investing heavily in product, design and user experience.
This search is specifically focused on finding a designer who brings both strategic thinking and strong visual craft. Someone capable of contributing ideas, challenging assumptions and confidently recommending better solutions — not simply executing against briefs. The role would suit a Product Designer who enjoys ownership, thrives in fast-moving environments and is comfortable operating across UX strategy, interaction design and polished UI execution. Communication skills and presence are important; the business is looking for someone who can bring clarity, direction and confidence to conversations internally and with clients alike.
The Role
Working closely with Product, Engineering and Client teams, the successful candidate will lead end-to-end product design across a suite of digital experiences, helping create intuitive, intelligent and visually polished user journeys. This is a role with genuine influence. The designer joining the team will help shape not only the product experience itself, but also the wider design culture, processes and standards as the platform continues to scale.
The environment requires someone comfortable moving between big-picture product thinking and detailed execution. Someone who can identify problems proactively, communicate ideas clearly and make thoughtful recommendations grounded in both user needs and commercial impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end product design across web-based SaaS experiences.
- Create high-quality UI and visually refined digital experiences.
- Build and evolve scalable design systems and component libraries.
- Conduct discovery workshops, user research and usability testing.
- Translate client feedback and business requirements into user-centred solutions.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Engineers in agile squads.
- Contribute to product strategy, UX direction and prioritisation discussions.
- Develop user journeys, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity interfaces.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, usability and overall product experience.
- Help establish scalable design standards, critique culture and ways of working as the team grows.
Experience & Background
The business is open to different backgrounds, but the successful candidate will likely bring a combination of strong UX thinking, visual design capability and experience working within product-led environments.
Key experience includes:
- Product Design / UX/UI experience within SaaS, tech or digital product environments.
- Familiarity with analytics or data visualisation tools.
- Strong visual and interface design capability.
- Advanced Figma skills including components, variants, prototyping and developer handoff.
- Experience building or contributing to design systems.
- Strong understanding of interaction design and information architecture.
- User research and usability testing experience.
- Confidence presenting and articulating design rationale to stakeholders.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Product and Engineering teams.
- The ability to work autonomously and manage priorities effectively.
- A portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, process and strong visual craft, not just polished outputs.
Additional Experience That Would Be Valuable
- Experience within startup, scale-up or entrepreneurial environments.
- Exposure to client-facing projects or commercially driven product teams.
- Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design principles.
- Understanding of front-end development fundamentals (HTML/CSS).
- Motion design or micro-interaction experience.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
- The chance to influence product direction at an early stage.
- Genuine ownership and visibility across product and design decisions.
- A business where design is viewed as a strategic driver, not a support function.
- The pace and autonomy of a startup combined with the backing of an established international business.
- The opportunity to work at the intersection of sport, technology and brand innovation.
- A collaborative environment that values ideas, initiative and clear thinking over hierarchy.
This opportunity will suit a designer who enjoys solving complex problems, bringing structure to ambiguity and creating products that are both commercially effective and genuinely well-crafted.
