A fast-growing technology company are looking for an Infrastructure / DevOps Engineer to join their small but highly impactful infrastructure team on a long-term contract basis. You’ll work closely with an experienced Head of Infrastructure to design, scale, and optimise modern cloud infrastructure powering a high-availability platform. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working across infrastructure, automation, and cloud operations in a collaborative, remote-first environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing and maintaining scalable AWS infrastructure across modern cloud environments
  • Building infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools, including CDK and Terraform
  • Managing and optimising AWS services, including ECS, Lambda, VPC, and Aurora Postgres
  • Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
  • Implementing monitoring, observability, and alerting using Datadog
  • Supporting development teams with deployment, automation, and operational best practices
  • Improving infrastructure security, scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency
  • Monitoring system performance and proactively identifying improvements
  • Documenting infrastructure architecture and operational processes
  • Collaborating closely with engineering teams across multiple time zones

What You Bring

  • Strong hands-on AWS experience, ideally across ECS, Lambda, VPC, and RDS
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and/or CDK
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tooling, such as Datadog
  • Knowledge of containerisation concepts and infrastructure best practices
  • Some experience with TypeScript or JavaScript for scripting and CDK purposes
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working in remote environments
  • Comfortable asking questions, collaborating with others, and seeking clarification when needed
  • Honest, self-aware, and team-oriented approach to engineering challenges

Nice to Have

  • AWS certifications, such as Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer
  • Advanced Datadog experience, including dashboards, APM, and log aggregation
  • Experience with disaster recovery, backups, and infrastructure resilience
  • Understanding of governance, compliance, and security best practices

Contract Details

  • Long-term rolling contract with strong likelihood of ongoing extension
  • Flexible structure with either:
  • 4-day week at the equivalent of approximately £170/day
  • 5-day week at a lower equivalent day rate of approximately £130/day
  • Open to both junior and mid-level engineers with strong AWS fundamentals
  • Remote-first role working primarily within UK time zones
  • Preferred locations include Europe and South Africa
