RMErecruit is partnering EXCLUSIVELY with a premier Belfast-based SME to appoint a Company Accountant. This is a pivotal commercial role within a high-growth environment, requiring a professional who can maintain a tight grip on the ledger while acting as a strategic advisor to the Board. The successful candidate will oversee the full finance function, ensuring robust financial health and providing the data necessary to drive the business forward.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for the month-end close and the production of comprehensive management packs, including detailed P&L and Balance Sheet analysis.
- Analysis of Work in Progress (WIP) and project-based margins to safeguard company profitability and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Partnering directly with business owners to provide high-level financial insights that influence commercial bidding and contract performance.
- Identifying inefficiencies within the current finance function and implementing modern systems and internal controls to streamline reporting.
- Managing the company’s liquidity through sophisticated rolling cash flow forecasts and lead responsibility for the annual budgeting process.
- Acting as the primary financial liaison for external auditors, banks, and internal operational leads.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience as a Company Accountant or Senior Accountant within an SME environment (ideally Manufacturing, Engineering, or a project-led sector).
- The ability to look beyond the numbers to understand the operational realities of a fast-moving business.
- ACCA/CIMA/ACA Qualified or Finalist status.
- Highly experienced candidates who are Qualified by Experience (QBE) and have a proven track record in a similar SME role are also encouraged to apply.
