  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process for the organisation, using the designated payroll software.

  • Ensure that payroll operations comply with the latest legislative requirements and company policies.

  • Maintain accurate employee records, reflecting any contract changes within the payroll system.

  • Monitor and manage the payroll email inbox, addressing queries and escalating issues promptly.

  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, ensuring clear communication of outcomes with relevant stakeholders.

  • Process PAYE code changes, wage garnishments, and other necessary deductions.

  • Handle prior month payroll adjustments as required.

  • Execute the year-end payroll process, including issuing necessary documentation to employees and submitting required reports to authorities.

  • Keep abreast of pay regulations, ensuring the business remains compliant by updating systems and informing stakeholders.

  • Prepare and submit regular and ad-hoc payroll reports, including those required by governmental agencies.

  • Reconcile payroll accounts such as net pay, PAYE, NIC, and pensions.

  • Analyze payroll variances on a monthly basis, working closely with HR to resolve any discrepancies.

  • Manage and report on company benefits such as statutory payments and company cars.

  • Oversee pension contributions, ensuring accurate calculation, reconciliation, and compliance with automatic enrollment requirements.

  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to enhance the overall employee payroll experience.

  • Continuously review payroll processes, suggesting and implementing improvements to optimise efficiency.

  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in managing the complete payroll process using recognised payroll software.

  • Strong understanding of payroll and tax legislation, with the ability to apply this knowledge effectively.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulae for both text and numbers.

  • Competency with Microsoft Office applications and payroll systems.

  • Excellent mathematical skills, necessary for accurate calculation of wages and taxes.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities, particularly in analysing payroll data and resolving discrepancies.

  • Experience in conflict resolution, particularly regarding payroll inquiries and disputes.

  • Ability to ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and statutory obligations.

  • Contribution to payroll budgeting and forecasting processes.

  • High attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and confidentiality.

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage deadlines independently.

  • Proven ability to work autonomously, offering both strategic and operational payroll solutions.

  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to write clear reports and actively listen to stakeholders.
