At The HR Booth, we work in partnership with our clients, taking great care and attention to understand our clients' business, culture and people. We offer commercial advice and solutions, supporting SME businesses across Scotland and the UK in many sectors and industries, supporting all aspects of HR.
Our clients include growing and aspiring organisations with a range of sectors including manufacturing, technology and construction, as well as family businesses, charities and social enterprises and other SME organisations across many sectors. Our clients vary in size, some as small as 10 people, and others employing several hundred.
We have an exciting opportunity for a full time and/or part time HR Generalist to join our hardworking team. This is an exciting time to join our team, we have some new opportunities in the pipeline with existing clients and some other businesses considering outsourcing their HR requirements. This is a HR Generalist role and would suit candidates currently working as HR Advisor, HR Officer, HR Consultant, HR Business Partner or ER Advisor.
We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude and someone who can build relationships with people at all levels of an organisation, and who is a team player. You should have a growth mindset and be someone that does not like drama; you must be proactive and want to get things done, working with minimal supervision.

You Should Possess The Following
- CIPD qualification is preferred but not essential
- Previous experience at HR Advisor/Officer/Consultant level
- UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle, as some travel will be expected to client sites
- Sound knowledge of current UK employment law
- The ability to communicate at all levels and develop a strong rapport with clients quickly
- Good decision-making skills and the ability to take ownership of situations
- Good IT skills
- Collaboration and good time management skills
- Flexibility to take on a range of responsibilities including administrative tasks as required by the business needs
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
The Role
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide advice and guidance to business owners, directors and managers via video telephone and email on a range of HR and ER subjects, including performance, absence, conduct, disciplinary and redundancy;
- You will carry out full and thorough investigation meetings and report findings, with recommendations;
- Facilitate and manage disciplinary and grievance meetings, either independently or with managers;
- Make recommendations to business owners/managers on their HR practices;
- Review Employee Handbooks and policies and procedures, making recommendations for improvements;
- Manage Long-Term sickness absence cases for clients, including organising occupational health referrals and follow up;
- Carry out job evaluations and salary benchmarking exercises where necessary;
- Deliver training on a range of HR subjects, including how to conduct effective investigations, managing performance and handling difficult conversations.
This is a challenging and varied HR role, where you will be providing support to a number of businesses, all with different wants and needs across a range of sectors. You will be expected to respond to emails and telephone enquiries. Therefore, you should be able to demonstrate you can work in a fast-paced environment. You will be expected to develop a good relationship with our clients, build rapport and have a good understanding of what is going on in their business and where HR can continue to add value.
Previous experience within outsourced HR would be an advantage, but what is more important is that you can demonstrate your experience within a generalist role and managing multiple cases. As you will be part of a small team, you are expected to support all areas of the business, and therefore you must be prepared to get involved in transactional HR tasks as well as more complex cases when the need arises. You will work in collaboration with your colleagues, both remotely and on-site when required to do so.

We also offer an early finish on Friday where some of our team choose to finish at 2pm and 3pm where their hours have been met, and on a rota basis someone stays on until 5pm each Friday to service our clients.
