RM Recruit are proud to be working with an education sector client based in West Bromwich who are actively seeking a School Finance Officer on a part-time, permanent basis working 24 hours per week. This role offers flexible, hybrid working, with an office presence required once per week. The client is also happy to discuss how you would prefer to structure your hours across the week. There is also a requirement to occasionally travel to multiple schools within the Sandwell area for meetings.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and supporting schedules.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process by gathering financial data and preparing reports.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate any discrepancies.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and prepayments.
- Monitor expenditure and support cost control across departments.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assist in analysing financial performance and identifying trends or areas for improvement.
- Work closely with the finance team to improve processes and reporting efficiency.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and administrative support to the finance department.
Person Specification
- AAT qualified or part-qualified (or equivalent) is desirable.
- Previous experience working in a finance or accounting environment.
- Experience working with spreadsheets, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Good understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to analyse financial data and present information clearly.
